Toddler hit by car dies at hospital

A 2-year-old girl who was hit by a car Saturday in Perris has died of her injuries, authorities said.
Genesis Irene Hernandez, of Ontario, died late Sunday morning at Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley, coroner’s officials said.
Genesis was struck by a Honda Accord in the 1700 block of El Nido about 6:20 p.m. Saturday when she stepped out from behind a parked car, said Sgt. Danny Lingo. The driver, Martha Florez, 57, of Perris, was not arrested or cited, Lingo said.
“This was just a horrific, terrible tragedy,” he said.
Lingo said investigators are still trying to determine which adult was supposed to be watching the child when she walked into the path of the Honda.
