Lemoore fatal crash victim identified
HANFORD – A 36-year-old man who died in a crash near Lemoore Tuesday morning has been identified as Jorge Martinez of Hanford, authorities said.
Martinez was driving a 1994 Ford Thunderbird on Grangeville Boulevard when his car collided with another vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident happened around 6:50 a.m. near the intersection of 15th Avenue and Grangeville Boulevard. Officials said a vehicle traveling eastbound on Grangeville drifted into the westbound lane and hit Martinez’s vehicle heading west on the road.
According to the CHP, the eastbound vehicle, a 2003 Jeep Cherokee, was traveling at about 50 to 55 mph, while the Thunderbird was traveling at an unknown speed.
Details on the CHP traffic incident information website indicated one of the vehicles, presumably Martinez’s, rolled into a nearby field.
The website also indicated the road was closed for nearly 70 minutes following the accident.
The driver of the Cherokee was transported to Adventist Medical Center-Hanford, where she was treated for minor injuries. Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials have ruled out alcohol and drugs as a factor in the accident. Both drivers were wearing a seat belt, they said.
The accident remains under investigation.
Cause of the Lemoore fatal crash
If news accounts in the Hanford Sentinel are accurate, the driver of the Jeep Cherokee is likely responsible for causing this accident. However, the accident is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol and an official determination of the cause of the Kings County crash has not been made.

The term “wrongful death” is defined as the death of an individual as a result of the negligence, carelessness, intentional act of another individual, corporation, company or entity. Filing a proper wrongful death claim is extremely difficult and complex for families because they are not only dealing with their grief over the death of a beloved family member, but also complex issues of compensation as well. Wrongful death claims are usually sought after by relatives, siblings, or members of the decedent’s estate who have lost a considerable amount of money as well as loss of support and grief due to the wrongful death of the decedent.
In most states, if the death of a relative or spouse was caused by the wrongful act of another, surviving family members can file a wrongful death lawsuit against the negligent party or parties. In order to file a wrongful death claim, you must be able to prove that you will experience severe future emotional and financial hardship because of the loss of the death of a relative, family member or spouse.
