Fatalities in SR-67 crash identified
All four people killed in a high-speed collision on state Route 67 between Poway and Ramona Friday morning have now been identified, officials with the Medical Examiner’s Office said Saturday.
Killed in the 10 a.m. crash on the rural highway just south of Rockhouse Road were 20-year-old Alexander Antonio Sebastiano of Poway, Madhu Manoharan, 34, of San Diego, 78-year-old Harold Eugene West and Josefina De Dios West, 74, both of San Ysidro.
Sebastiano was driving a Chevrolet Silverado north at high speed when for unknown reasons he lost control of the truck and crossed the double yellow lines where he slammed into a Toyota Camry and a Toyota Corolla heading south, the California Highway Patrol said.
Sebastiano and his passenger Manoharan died at the scene. Preliminary reports said Manoharan was sitting in the front seat, however, the Medical Examiner stated he was riding in the back seat. CHP officer Brian Pennings said Saturday the investigation is ongoing and many details continue to be sorted out.
A woman said to be also riding in the back seat of the truck suffered moderate injuries and was hospitalized. Her name was not released.
Harold West was driving the Camry and Josefina West was his front seat passenger. They also both died before they could be taken to a hospital.
A 24-year-old Ramona woman and a 5-year-old girl riding in the Corolla also were injured and taken to a hospital to be treated for moderate injuries, authorities said.
