San Bernardino Coroner releases name of collision victim
Coroner’s officials have released the name of the 61-year-old San Bernardino man who died this morning nearly 24 hours after he was struck by a motorist whom police say was an unlicensed driver.
Bernard F. Culverson was fatally injured at 5:31 a.m. Monday while bicycling west across the intersection of Third Street and Waterman Avenue in San Bernardino when he was hit by 28-year-old Benito Bustos-Gonzalez, of Fontana, Sgt. Vicki Cervantes said in a written statement.
Culverson died at 3:41 a.m. today at Loma Linda University Medical Center.
Cause of the San Bernardino Bicycle Accident
According to Officer Cervantes, Bustos-Gonzalez had a green light when he entered the intersection, but was driving without a license. Investigators have not said whether Bustos-Gonzalez was arrested or ticketed, though jail records show no indication that he was booked for investigation of any crime. The accident remains under investigation.
