Two other people in the jeep, both female, sustained minor injuries, authorities said. One suffered a minor cut on her knee and the other had bruises and neck pain, the CHP reported.

Coroner IDs Woodlander who died after CR-102, I-5 vehicle accident in Woodland

Yolo County’s Chief Deputy Coroner Robert LaBrash has identified the man who died in a single-car crash Friday night off of County Road 102 and Interstate 5.

Robert Dale Sunderland III, 25, of Woodland, died Friday night around 9:44 p.m. at the scene of the accident, LaBrash told The Democrat Saturday afternoon. Emergency workers had attempted to resuscitate Sunderland before he succumbed to his injuries.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, LaBrash said.

Two other passengers from Woodland suffered major injuries and the driver, who the California Highway Patrol says was under the influence of alcohol, sustained minor injuries.

LaBrash said he had no information on the conditions of the other passengers, who were sent to UC Davis Medical Center and Kaiser South.

The CHP had no news on the conditions of the other passengers as of 4:15 p.m. Saturday.

Officials have not released the names of any of the individuals involved in the incident other than Sunderland.

Witnesses alerted authorities of the accident around 9 p.m. and tried to provide assistance, the CHP said.

Due to the severity of the accident as reported by witnesses, two helicopters were immediately dispatched to the scene, along with two ambulances and emergency vehicles from the CHP, Woodland Fire Department, Woodland Police Department and Yolo County Sheriff’s Department.

Emergency officials were on scene within four minutes.
