Tulare woman killed in rollover at J Street and Highway 99
A woman killed in a single-car rollover north of Tulare early Sunday morning has been identified as Rosa Estrada, 22, of Tulare, said the Tulare County Sheriff-Coroner’s office.
The California Highway Patrol said Estrada was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car when it overturned off the J Street onramp onto Highway 99 north of Tulare at 1:20 a.m. Sunday.
The driver, Giovanni Ferreira, 22, of Visalia, was northbound on the J Street onramp when he failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the road, the CHP said. Ferreira’s 2005 Toyota Corolla ran through a metal guard rail and overturned several times. Ferreira was wearing a seatbelt and sustained minor injuries. He was treated at Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia.
Cause of the Tulare Crash
If news accounts are accurate, the driver Giovanni Ferreira, 22, of Visalia, is likely responsible for causing this accident. However, the accident is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol and an official determination of the cause of the Tulare County crash has not been made. The CHP did say that alcohol was a contributing factor in the collision.

One-car fatality linked to intoxication
A one-car accident at the junction of state Route 163 and Interstate 8 left one person dead and two others injured early Sunday. It also closed part of the interchange for about two hours.
At about 3:25 a.m., the driver of a Chevrolet HHR was traveling fast through the transition road from northbound Route 163 to the eastbound interstate, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The vehicle flipped, ejecting two of three passengers. One passenger died, another suffered minor injuries and a third sustained major injuries, according to CHP. It said the driver appeared uninjured but will be charged with felony DUI and manslaughter.
The name of the dead passenger has not been released.
Cause of the San Diego County Crash
As a passenger, the deceased likely could have done nothing to prevent this fatal roll over collision that ultimately took their life. The California Highway Patrol will surely look at the speed of the vehicle, witness reports, and other factors to determine what occurred and who was responsible. roll over collisions such as this one can have countless causes, including unsafe passing maneuvers, swerving to avoid an object in the road, falling asleep at the wheel, driving under the influence, or driver distraction.
According to the California Highway Patrol the crash was “due to the driver’s state of intoxication, the driver failed to maintain effective control of the vehicle, which ran off the left side of the roadway”.

In order to file a wrongful death claim, you must be able to prove that you will experience severe future emotional and financial hardship because of the loss of the death of a relative, family member or spouse.
3 killed, 3 injured in Sacramento Co highway crash
Three Sacramento residents were killed early this morning and two others were hospitalized after their Pontiac SUV was slammed head-on by a Honda CRV driving the wrong way on Highway 50 in Gold River, according to a California Highway Patrol spokesman.
The Honda driver, Christopher Rigsby, 41, of Redwood City was hospitalized and arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence, Officer Jim Young said.
“We do believe alcohol was the cause,” the spokesman said.
The force of the crash caused the Pontiac, a 2001 Aztec, to flip on its roof and eject two women in the rear seat, ages 52 and 56, who died at the scene, Young said. A 51-year-old passenger in the front seat died inside the vehicle, Young said.
The identities of the victims, all Sacramento residents, were being withheld until next-of-kin could be notified, the CHP said.
The Aztec driver, Gustavo Sandoval-Gonzalez, 31, of Sacramento, was taken to UC Davis Medical Center with chest pain and hand and knee injuries, Young said. A rear-seat passenger, Pedro Cornejo, 59, of Sacramento, was taken to Mercy San Juan hospital with “major injuries,” Young said.
The crash also left Rigsby trapped inside the 2007 Honda CRV he was driving alone. He was freed by rescue workers and taken to UC Davis Medical Center, Young said.
According to CHP investigators, the Pontiac was driving westbound around 12:45 a.m. on Highway 50 near Folsom Boulevard when it was hit head on by the Honda CRV, which was driving the wrong way. The Pontiac was determined to be driving 62 mph in a 65-mph zone, while the Honda’s speed was unknown, Young said.

The vehicle’s right front end struck a motorhome that was parked on the right shoulder, which then struck a parked trailer.
The passenger in the vehicle, Victor Arenas, 20, died at the scene, CHP officials said.

Boy killed in Oregon 3-car wreck, driver arrested
BEAVERTON — A 10-year-old boy was killed, his mother critically injured, and a Vancouver woman arrested in a three-car accident Sunday evening on SW Canyon Road near Linden Road.
A Chevy Avalanche crossed the center line about 7:50 p.m. and side-swiped a Toyota Prius. The Avalanche continued on and hit an Acura TL sedan.
The left front wheel of the Avalanche had been sheared off. The Acura was heavily damaged on the driver side.
The mother and two children, one of them the 10-year-old, were in the Acura. The mother was taken to Legacy Emanuel hospital in critical condition. A 15-year-old son was also taken to Emanuel with cuts and bruises. They had to be extricated from the car by Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue crews.
Those who were in the Avalanche were all standing outside it when officers arrived and initially were uncooperative in identifying the driver. As the investigation continued, officers concluded that Paige D. Couch, 38, was behind the wheel.
The wreck closed Canyon Road for several hours.
Cause of the Oregon Crash
Officers determined that an eastbound Chevy Avalanche crossed the center line about 7:50 p.m. and side-swiped a Toyota Prius. The Avalanche continued on and hit an Acura TL sedan. There were signs of “alcohol impairment” with the driver, said Beaverton police spokeswoman Pam Yazzolino She was taken to the Washington County jail and held on accusations of second-degree manslaughter, third-degree assault and fourth-degree assault. The crash happened about 3:30 p.m. near Lamont when California Highway Patrol officials said a Bakersfield man in a red truck ran a stop sign, crashing into the side of a white truck driven by the Arvin residents.
The 47-year-old Arvin female passenger died, and the 58-year-old male driver was taken to the hospital with major injuries.

Woman killed in suspected teen DUI crash ID’d
ANAHEIM – Authorities identified Friday one of two women struck and killed by a teen-age boy suspected of driving while intoxicated over the weekend.
Carol Shea, 66, died Saturday due to multiple traumatic injuries, Supervising Deputy Coroner Larry Esslinger said. Earlier this week, authorities identified the other woman as 56-year-old Hengameh Saghafi. She also died as a result of multiple traumatic injuries.
The fatal accident happened shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of Harbor Boulevard near Disneyland.
The investigation revealed the women, who were both homeless, were walking in a crosswalk on the east side of Harbor Boulevard when they were struck by a Chevrolet Astro van traveling southbound on Harbor, Anaheim police Sgt. Rick Martinez said, adding that the van struck the center divider.
One of the women was thrown a “considerable distance” and came to rest in the southbound lanes of traffic. The other woman came to rest in the left-turn lane of the northbound lanes, he said.
The possessions the women were carrying were scattered all over the street.
A witness told police that there were more people in the van, but when police arrived, they found only a 17-year-old Santa Ana boy who told them he was the driver, Martinez said.
The driver was arrested and booked at Orange County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, causing a collision and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, Martinez said.
The investigation is continuing.
Cause of the Anaheim Car Accident
If news accounts in the Orange County Register are accurate, the 17 year old is likely responsible for causing this accident, because he was allegedly driving under the influence and a high rate of speed. However, the incident is still under investigation by the Santa Ana Police Department and an official determination of the cause of the Orange County crash has not been made.
