Idaho Woman dies after tractor runs over her car
GOODING COUNTY — Idaho State Police say a Wendell woman died Thursday morning when her car was run over by a tractor sprayer.
The accident happened at 7:38 a.m. on Hwy. 1348 East near 3200 South in Gooding County.
Trooper Aaron Bingham said 47-year-old Shane Collins of Wendell was operating a tractor sprayer. He missed his turn and put the vehicle in reverse. That caused the tractor to drive over a Dodge Neon driven by Martina Aguilar, a mother of five. She died at the scene.
Bingham says Collins was spraying corn and potato fields in the area. The tractor is quite large. It has tires that are around 6-feet tall. The tractor does have two side-view mirrors, but not a rear-view mirror.
Cause of the Gooding County Accident
The driver told police that he did not see the car. Trooper Bingham stated that the tractor went over the car by striking the front bumper first and then going over the entire vehicle, killing the occupant.
Investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor.
The investigation into the crash is continuing. No charges have been filed yet.

2 kids, mom killed in Willowbrook car crash
WILLOWBROOK, Calif. (KABC) — Two children and their mother were killed and several others were injured following a car accident in Willowbrook on Monday.
The crash happened at about 7 a.m. at Mona Boulevard and East 119th Street. The mother died at an area hospital, and her two children died at the scene.
The Coroner’s Office identified the mother and two daughters as Lynzne Jane Martinez, 30, of Los Angeles; Loryana Martinez, 3; and Brianna Martinez, 7.
At least two other individuals were injured. They were transported to a local hospital with moderate to major injuries.
CHP officials said a white Cadillac was headed southbound on Mona Boulevard, and a beige SUV was coming out of 119th Street, trying to make a left turn onto Mona Boulevard headed north. That’s when the two cars collided, and the crash occurred with so much force that it sent the cars hurtling away from the intersection and onto a sidewalk.
Mitzi Rendon, 16, said she heard the crash out of her bedroom window and ran out to help. She said she pulled one of the children out of the SUV’s window.
The driver of the Cadillac was detained for questioning by police as the investigation continues into the exact cause of the crash.
Cause of the Willowbrook Crash
The California Highway Patrol’s preliminary investigation shows that the driver and lone occupant of the Cadillac, Jason Steward, 32, of Hawthorne, tried to run from the scene but was quickly caught and detained, according to a CHP news release.
Paramedics took Steward to Harbor Medical Center with a broken ankle. CHP officers also placed him under arrest on suspicion of DUI, hit-and-run and gross vehicular manslaughter.

Fatalities in SR-67 crash identified
All four people killed in a high-speed collision on state Route 67 between Poway and Ramona Friday morning have now been identified, officials with the Medical Examiner’s Office said Saturday.
Killed in the 10 a.m. crash on the rural highway just south of Rockhouse Road were 20-year-old Alexander Antonio Sebastiano of Poway, Madhu Manoharan, 34, of San Diego, 78-year-old Harold Eugene West and Josefina De Dios West, 74, both of San Ysidro.
Sebastiano was driving a Chevrolet Silverado north at high speed when for unknown reasons he lost control of the truck and crossed the double yellow lines where he slammed into a Toyota Camry and a Toyota Corolla heading south, the California Highway Patrol said.
Sebastiano and his passenger Manoharan died at the scene. Preliminary reports said Manoharan was sitting in the front seat, however, the Medical Examiner stated he was riding in the back seat. CHP officer Brian Pennings said Saturday the investigation is ongoing and many details continue to be sorted out.
A woman said to be also riding in the back seat of the truck suffered moderate injuries and was hospitalized. Her name was not released.
Harold West was driving the Camry and Josefina West was his front seat passenger. They also both died before they could be taken to a hospital.
A 24-year-old Ramona woman and a 5-year-old girl riding in the Corolla also were injured and taken to a hospital to be treated for moderate injuries, authorities said.

Woman killed in big rig crash on I-680 in San Jose
A horrific scene unfolded on a freeway off ramp Thursday morning when a tumbling big rig fell on top of a car, crushing a passenger to death and critically injuring the truck driver, the California Highway Patrol said.
The collision was reported just before 10 a.m. as the rig driver was getting onto northbound Interstate-680 from eastbound McKee Road, said Officer DJ Sarabia. The male driver lost control while taking the cloverleaf on ramp, causing his trailer to fall onto a passing gray Toyota Camry occupied by two women.
The passenger, described as being in her 40s, was killed at the scene. The Camry driver, a woman in her 20s who may be the victim’s daughter, was taken to Valley Medical Center with minor injuries.
The rig driver, a man in his 30s, was taken to Regional Medical Center in San Jose — located less than a mile from the crash site — with critical injuries, Sarabia said. The trailer was filled with broccoli, but the load did not spill out.
Within moments of the crash, onlookers gathered along the south side of the overpass and peered through chain-link fencing as authorities righted the trailer and moved the wrecked Camry onto a tow truck. The victim remained inside the vehicle and will be taken to the coroner’s office for extraction, away from public view, Sarabia said.
Authorities shut down the offramp from northbound I-680 to westbound McKee Road, as well as the onramp from eastbound McKee Road to northbound I-680. Sarabia said motorists should expect delays and blockages until at least 2 p.m.
Cause of the San Jose Big-Rig Crash
A preliminary investigation suggests that speed was a likely cause for the overturn. According to Officer D.J Sarabia of the California Highway Patrol “We think he was going too fast to make that curve”.
Fault and Wrongful Death Liability
Accidents involving big-rigs have unique and complex legal issues. A skilled lawyer can also provide an explanation to the victim’s family on their legal rights in a wrongful death claim against the driver or any other parties at fault.
