California man dead after being hit crossing street in Laughlin
Metro Police said “pedestrian error” caused an accident Saturday night in Laughlin that claimed the life of a 62-year-old California man.
Police said the accident happened at 8:48 p.m. on Casino Drive south of Bruce Woodbury Drive when the victim and his wife attempted to cross the street outside of a marked crosswalk.
Reports say a Colorado man driving a 1997 Ford F250 was driving south on Casino Drive in the right travel lane when the man entered the traffic lane. The couple, from Huntington Beach, Calif., were trying to cross Casino Drive from the east curb to the west curb, police said.
Authorities pronounced the man dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured, police said.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office will identify the victim pending notification of his family.
The accident marked the 41st traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
