Bicyclist injured in crash with Mercedes-Benz

IRVINE – A woman riding a bicycle and a driver of a Mercedes-Benz collided Friday morning on Alton Parkway, authorities said.

The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 7:55 a.m. on the northbound I-5 Alton Parkway off-ramp.

A CHP officer on scene said it appears the two collided when the bicyclist crossed the off-ramp on a green light while the driver was making a right-hand turn when exiting the freeway.

The bicyclist, who appears to be in her 20s, was taken away in an ambulance. Her injuries did not appear to be major.

Cause of the Irvine Bicycle Accident

The cause of the August 19  crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. However, based on the limited information provided by the OC Register News, the driver of the Mercedes Benz is likely responsible for   this horrific collision.
