Crash injures Oceanside woman
Vista — A 44-year-old Oceanside woman sustained major injuries in a car crash and was airlifted to a hospital Sunday afternoon.
The accident occurred about 4 p.m. on Buena Creek Road south of Monte Vista Drive, just east of Vista. The California Highway Patrol said Vista resident Teodocio Valdovinos, 53, was speeding in a 2004 Chevy Tahoe when he attempted to pass a slow-moving motor home on the wrong side of the road. Valdovinos clipped a motorcycle with his mirror then collided head-on with a 2007 Toyota Sienna driven by the 44-year-old woman. The woman’s name and the extent of her injuries were not released.
Valdovinos was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI causing injury. He was taken to a hospital after complaining of chest pains and then booked into Vista jail.
Buena Creek Road was closed for about two hours while officers investigated the crash.
Cause of the Vista Accident
If news accounts are accurate, the driver of the Chevy Tahoe is likely responsible for causing this accident. However, the accident is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol and an official determination of the cause of the San Diego County crash has not been made.
